We can custom build any type of building you can imagine from regular garden
storage sheds to barns and storage for lumber or timber garages from your own
plans. Just call our sales team for advice. Please note we do not use
any cedar or hardwood in our product, just Scandinavian soft wood. Why
have cold damp concrete when you can have timber!
Timber Garages are constructed from tongue and
groove shiplap boards with a nominal size of 16mm x 125mm which we have
machined to our own pattern having a deeper than usual tongue and grove.
This is because in summer time its possible that the shiplap boards on
your prefab wooden garage kit can shrink to such a degree that the boards
can come out from there groove. Then in the winter the shiplap boards
expand again but the tongue misses the grove and the board breaks. We
use a high quality 5Th Grade Scandinavian redwood normally most
manufacturers don't mention what grade of timber they use because it
isn't of such a high grade. We then check all our boards for cracks and
knot holes before we board a timber garage, although a couple may
appear later because of the nature of timber.
The framework we use for our timber frame is planed 2˝ x 2
timbers throughout, and doubled up at the door. Our roofs have one or
more main trusses and then sub trusses throughout the rest of the roof.
All ironmongery
on our wooden prefab garages are Galvanised and heavy
duty. We have a large tower bolt to secure the doors at the front and
also one to bolt down to the concrete on the inside.
Head height is more than ample in our
wooden garages with 6ft 9inch eaves height and at least 8ft ridge (
ridge height varies depending on the width of building.
We believe our company produces some of
the best quality timber garages in the industry, to us they are more
than just somewhere to park a vehicle or car.
Assembly of our wooden garages is
a lot simpler than you might think at first glance as we have fitting
instructions with photographs of a previous building being assembled.
But worry not if you are not confident enough to do it yourself, we
offer an erection service for our timber framed garages to many parts of England and Wales.

Why Should I Buy a Timber Garage?
So what are the benefits of buying a timber garage over a metal garage?
First off, what are some of the factors in buying a garage? For many, it
is not only useful to you, but it also adds to your property value when
done properly. A timber garage that is kept looking nice can add more
value to your home than a metal garage. To many home buyers, they are
simply viewed as being more valuable.
Another benefit to making the choice of a timber garage is the aesthetic
appeal. The cookie-cutter metal garages you find locally may not appeal
with the neighbourhood you are in or may “stick out like a sore thumb”
in comparison to your home. A timber garage looks elegant and can be
designed to fit the style of your home.
So how many times have you gone into a metal garage during the middle of
winter to work on a project only to find yourself walking back into the
heated home because it seems colder in there than it does outside? This
is one of the best benefits of a timber garage. The timber, or wood, is
a natural insulator. It has microscopic hollow cells. These produce high
insulating value. Your timber garage will stay warmer in the winter and
cooler in the summer.
An additional benefit is the sound barrier that the timber serves as.
Neighbours and spouses can get cranky in a hurry about noise. Everyone
knows that the garage should be a place where you can work on your
loudest projects. Having a timber garage will assist in keeping noise
level down in comparison to a steel or metal garage. This will keep your
spouse happy while working on those projects that may otherwise make
them upset.
For the last benefit, it is probably one of the most valuable of
purchasing a timber garage. I have yet to see a well-kept timber garage
not look custom. In fact, most are. Whether you have an need for an
odd-sized garage, or you are looking for a certain pitch to match your
home, it is easier to custom a timber garage than a metal garage.
Still not convinced that you should purchase a timber garage? What is
keeping you back? Maintenance? I think most peoples first thoughts of a
wooden garage in comparison to a metal garage is the upkeep. However,
keeping a wooden garage looking nice is not all that difficult. In fact,
regardless of metal or timber you should inspect the garage doors and
any other moving parts on the garage for wear. You should inspect the
hinges, springs, and rollers to ensure they are still well lubricated.
For the exterior of a timber garage, because wood expands and contracts
with the weather conditions, it is advised to repaint or refinish every
two to three years. This will prolong the life expectancy of your timber
garage.
