At Regency Timber Buildings we construct all our Timber Garages Ourselves. To our usual high standards using 5Th Grade Scandinavian redwood (not the cheaper 6th or whitewood) they are shiplap-boarded walls on 100mm x 38mm planed framework and tongue and groove boarded roofs supported with trusses. With a high quality 3mm thick roofing felt.
Buildings are hand painted with cuprinol total
as standard, we can also offer tanalised boarding on request.

They are a cheaper and more attractive alternative to concrete or brick and have better natural insulation so is therefore less prone to condensation.

We recommend all Timber Framed Garages be sat on a course of bricks on top of a concrete base. A base plan will be sent out for all orders before delivery.

We have standard sizes available which and also have a made to measure service. Side personnel doors and opening windows can be added to your wooden garage order.

If you need your building to be below 2.5m overall height because of planning restriction we can accommodate this just give us a call.

Any other sized wooden garages can be made on request. We have detailed fitting instructions with step by step photographs. Erection may be available depending on location, please contact us for a quote if required.

All quoted timber sizes are nominal before machining finished sizes will be approx 3mm less than that quoted.

Please call 0845 0943281 or email if you need a different size or different specifications.

Wooden Garages, Metal Garages or any other type, Which Should You Choose?
Reading this article might help you decide.

A garage is a special part of a house or building designed to provide some space for certain things like cars. The idea of a modern day garage can be traced back to 1896, the year when Henry Ford invented a Quadracycle. He found it very hard to find a place where he can keep his invention. In addition, he found it very hard to take his invention out for trial or a test drive. He was then forced to destroy a part of his house to accommodate the size of his invention. Thus, the use of a garage began. People started using a garage. People started to build houses that can accommodate a space for a garage. Different types of garages were made ever since. There were metal garages, concrete garages, wooden garages, timber framed garages, prefabricated garages and many more. With the overabundance of garages, one will be hard-pressed to find the best garage for their home. Let’s discuss some of these garages and have an idea on what garage to choose.

Timber Framed Garages are one of the most popular garages. These types of garages have been around ever since time immemorial. For some practical and environmental reasons, people love these garages. Fashion wise, timber is very soothing to look at as against hard metal. Timber is one of the most ideal materials in building a garage. It is the best choice for homeowners who are environmentally sound. Rustic style houses will blend significantly with the natural beauty that Timber Framed Garages provide. These types of garages are also now made durable with the help of innovative treatments. A garage made out of timber can last for more or less 10 years without renovation. Clearly, if you want to blend your house with subtle but natural beauty, Timber Framed Garages is the way to go.

Metal Garages are also becoming more visible each and every day in most family homes. Metal Garages are easier to find to these days because of the availability of its primary component, metal. As against timber, metal is easier to find and process. Metal Garages are obviously more durable than Timber Framed Garages without need to undergo any kind of treatment. However, there are notable disadvantages in having Metal Garages. This type of garages provides poor insulation. They do not provide much comfort in colder days. Also, these garages are susceptible to fast deterioration due to rust. Unlike timber, they are not biodegradable. They are also very difficult to modify or to design with. With respect to production, while metals are easier to find than timber, the former requires more energy to process than the latter. While it is true that Metal Garages are popular, it is also true that their popularity is starting to decline each passing day. Homeowners started to use Timber Framed Garages. Thus, Metal Garages could quickly become a thing of the past.

Wooden Garages are similar to Timber Garages. These kind of garages have been developed more than thousands of years. Primitive people use building tools to create this type of garages. However, in order to protect the same from insects and deterioration, there is a need to treat wood with some chemicals. Wooden Garages are easier to design than Metal Garages. Usually, Metal Garages require special tools as against Wooden Garages that require only ordinary tools. While a garage made out of wood if preferable, it also has its downside. Wood requires more maintenance than metal. Hence, to prevent its sudden deterioration, homeowners might need to exert more effort in cleaning this kind of a garage. However, this disadvantage is easily overcome by the Earthly beauty that Wood Garages provide.

Like Timber Framed Garages, Wooden Garages are Earth friendly. As people become more concerned about the environment and the effect of their lifestyle over the same, people would prefer things or devices that will not have any effect on it. Durability should not be an issue with respect to Wooden Garages. These garages are built to last for several years. Any issue with respect to the same is better directed to its maintenance than its sustainability.

Another kind of garage that is worth discussing about is the Concrete Garages. Concrete Garages are also one of the best garages that a homeowner should consider. Garages form an integral part of a house. As such, the same should be strong and durable as possible. In short, there is a danger of a substantial collapse of a person’s house if ever the garage built is of poor quality and material. With garages made out of concrete, a house collapsing should not be a concern. In any type of weather condition, Concrete Garages remain strong. Also, some people prefer Concrete Garages because they are cheap. People can afford this type of garage more than they can afford other types of garages. These garages are easier to construct than other garages. Further, with this type of garage, people would not need to maintain the same as much as they would have to with other types of garages. People can save more money with this type of garage because of their easy maintenance. With Concrete Garages, maintenance will not be an issue.

Also, homeowners may find it very suitable to acquire prefab garage kits. Prefab garage kits have its benefits. Homeowners will not find it very difficult to get zoning approval and building permits for this kind of a garage. Most prefab garage kits already has its zoning and building approved before they are even sold to public. Further, this kind of garage is much faster to construct than any other type of garage. A constructor need not consider the dimensions of your home before he can install this garage. Prefab garages are very well designed by constructors since the plan for the same was already used by them for previous purchasers. With this kind of garage, a homeowner can rest assured that there would be no error in construction. Worry not about trying to rent a car that would transport the prefab garages to your door. Companies providing for prefab garages usually deliver the same with no additional cost, as the same is already included in the purchase price.

These are the kinds of garages that you need to consider. With this information, you can now choose the best garage for you and your family. Consider the facts given in this article and make the right choice!
