At Regency Timber Buildings we construct all our wooden garages ourselves,  to our usual high standards using 5Th Grade Scandinavian redwood (not the cheaper 6th or whitewood) they are shiplap-boarded walls on 100mm x 38mm planed framework and tongue and groove boarded roofs supported with trusses. With a high quality 3mm thick roofing felt. (different roof coverings also available)

We do not buy in any mass produced products from other suppliers, all our buildings are made in house.

Our buildings are hand painted with cuprinol total as standard which has a choice of 6 colours, we can also offer tanalised boarding on request (tanalised treated buildings including the featheredge boarded ones are not hand painted as they are already treated with Tanalith E and come in a light green colour).

They are a cheaper and more attractive alternative to concrete or brick and have better natural insulation so is therefore less prone to condensation.

We recommend that they are sat on a course of bricks on top of a concrete base. A base plan will be sent out for all orders before delivery.

We have standard sizes available and also have a made to measure service. Side personnel doors and opening windows can be added to your order.

If you need your building to be below 2.5m overall height because of planning restriction we can accommodate this just give us a call.

We can also make your garage with a mono pitch pent style roof (pent wooden garage) if you prefer this design, this often helps keep the overall height to a minimum.

We can make to almost any size on request up to 20ft wide. We have detailed fitting instructions with step by step photographs. Erection is available to must areas of the UK, north south east west, please contact us for a quote if you cant find your delivery area on our price list.

All quoted timber sizes are nominal before machining finished sizes will be approx 3mm less than that quoted.

Please call 0845 0943281 or email if you need a different size or different specifications.

With so many different types of structures and materials available which do you choose?

A garage is a special part of a house or building designed to provide some space for certain things like cars. They can be traced back to 1896, the year when Henry Ford invented the Quadracycle. He found it very hard to find a place where he can keep his invention. In addition, he found it very hard to take his invention out for trial or a test drive. He was then forced to destroy a part of his house to accommodate the size of his invention. Thus, the use of a garage began. People started to build houses that can accommodate a space for a car. Different types have been made ever since. Some of the different types are made from wood, concrete, metal or timber framed with different cladding types.
With the abundance of different materials available, one may find it confusing to find the best type to suit their needs. Lets discuss some of the different types available so you have an idea on which to choose.
Planning permission approval is usually easier to get for wood structures as they are seen as less permanent than concrete ones.

Timber framed  garage sheds are one of the most popular types available. These types of garages have been around ever since time immemorial. For some practical and environmental reasons, people love this type of building. Fashion wise, timber is very soothing to look at as against hard metal it is one of the most ideal materials.

It is the best choice for homeowners who are environmentally concerned as most manufacturers source there materials from sustainable fsc certified sources.
Rustic style houses will blend significantly with the natural beauty that they provide. They are also now made durable with the help of innovative treatments, they can be treated to match their surroundings and blend in if need be.

Maintenance is of course needed every few years, a new lick of paint and oiled hinges should keep it looking as good for years to come.

Metal garages are also becoming more visible each and every day in most family homes, They are easier to find to these days because of the availability of its primary component, metal.
They have less ongoing maintenance without need to undergo any kind of treatment. However, there are notable disadvantages in having a metal one. This type of Building  provides poor insulation. They do not provide much comfort in colder days. Also, these they are susceptible to fast deterioration due to rust from condensation. Unlike timber, they are not biodegradable. They are also very difficult to modify their design . With respect to production, while metals are easier to find than timber, the former requires more energy to process than the latter. While it is true that metal ones are popular, it is also true that their popularity is starting to decline each passing day. Due to the disadvantages listed here. They could quickly become a thing of the past.

Concrete sectional garages are strong and durable  and need little maintenance. However they do tend to be more damp and cold and can suffer from condensation like the metal ones.

With this information, you can now choose the best building for you and your family. Consider the facts given in this article and make the right choice!
